Paradise.
I am now completely, 100%, nocturnal. It's actually reached the point of not being able to sleep until 3am. Which makes me wonder, why is no one up that late?! The night is so peaceful! I may be afraid of the dark, but the night is so serene. It's quiet and calm. What's better than a night at home? A night in paradise.
Paradise, the completely overused and cliche name for the state of Hawaii. While I hated the heat and the crew members on the cruise, the nights in Hawaii were almost magical. It almost felt like no matter how bad the day the night would always cheer you up.
There was nothing easy to hate about Hawaii. The beaches are beautiful, the people are kind, and the culture is so rich and amazing.
Being the stay at home type of person I am it was almost refreshing to walk out to the beach. The sunset cured all my fears and worries. Would I make it home safely? Would I have fun? How's my family doing? The Hawaiian sunset has a fairytale quality, it healed all open wounds and fears as I stared into the beautiful collage of pinks and blues and felt suddenly better.
Besides the beautiful nights there were also amazing days filled with new words and breathtaking views. For example did you know the state fish is the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a? Simply put, the pig fish. I found myself wanting to take in every site Hawaii had to offer. Could I go to Kilauea and see the ocean? Could I face my fears and climb into a helicopter? Unfortunately we were pressed for time and I found myself wishing I could stay forever and ever.
The Napalli Coast was the most amazing surreal thing I have ever seen. I looked at it and suddenly I completely forgot everything. I forgot I was home sick, I forgot I was sad, I forgot how much I missed everyone.
When we were finally going home I was more than ready to leave but I will miss the islands more than anywhere I've ever been. They brought great memories and I got to spend 10 days with my grandparents whom I love dearly. All in all I'd love to go back. Hawaii really is paradise.
