Nightmare House 2 (Contains Spoilers)
Okay so I've always been a wimp when it comes to horror games, movies, books, etc and try to avoid them as much as possible. A little while ago boyfriend decided to play Nightmare House 2 and I decided to tease him for screaming and freaking out. Little did I know that would end in some pretty scary payback.
For those of you who don't know, Nightmare House is a mod for Half life 2 and pretty damn scary if you ask me. Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth closed. That's a pretty important message I learned. While I was watching boyfriend play it I thought "This is kind of creepy...not all that terrifying just kinda creepy." and lightheartedly teased him.
His idea of payback was to make me try the game myself.
I put on my almighty brave warrior face and prepared to play something I decided would have no effect on me....I was wrong. Naturally, I lasted about a half hour before I was begging him to let me stop playing. I didn't even make through chapter one of the prologue.
I bowed my head in shamed defeat and said "Fine it's scary. You win. Now I don't have to play it right?" Wrong. See apparently admitting that it's scary isn't enough. I tried to reason with him and when that failed I tried the whole "Pretty please don't make me?" and gave him the saddest look I could. That also failed.
I honestly can't even begin to say how many times I screamed, yelled, got goose bumps, and cursed the game into oblivion for being so damn scary. I mean you'd think that a girl popping up would eventually grow tiresome, predictable, and just plain annoying right? Wrong. I lived in fear always asking "Is she going to come now? Now?"
It can turn you into a blubbering mess. You'll walk along and all the sudden...
Ohhai! Did I scare you? |
To make matters worse, she doesn't speak understandably and when she speaks it dawns on you that she could be anywhere. Why are females popping up always so bloody scary? I mean honestly.
Oh and then there's the zombies. They're about as much fun to be around as a giant snake that's wearing armor made of fire and wielding a chainsaw. You see them and are all like "Wanna be friends?" and they're like "No bro, I'mma kill you now."
I spent half the game in fear of Emily the ghost girl and the other half angry at zombies for attacking a poor innocent mental patient. I don't even think I can count how many times I told Emily to stop popping up and the zombies to play nicely.
Between the random scares, bloody walls, creepy setting, scary ghost girl, zombies, and evil psychopath doctor it's impossible to say that this game won't scare you half to death and leave you in a confused panic.
If you can learn one thing from this game it's that no good ever comes from having to explore old houses and creepy hospitals...especially when armed with an axe and a flashlight.
Even the hospital name sounds scary. |
Oh and when boyfriend is screaming at a game, never, under any circumstance, tell him it's not scary. Now If you'll excuse me, I have to try Amnesia The Dark Descent as more payback...when will I ever learn?
AMNESIA!!! 8DDDD
ReplyDeleteSoon =D. I started Amnesia a few days ago
ReplyDeleteYeah, I made that mistake with Fallout 3. There was a vault that he said really scared him, so I did it by myself to make a point, and I was SO scared! T_T
