Summer! Babysitting! Being Normal! Birthday! DDR!
I'm having a bit of a normal person moment and I'm not liking it to be honest. My nocturnalness is fading and my aversion to the sun is pretty much nonexistent.
Last week my dad's girlfriend posted a facebook status asking for a babysitter for her daughter and my mom happily accepted...for me. I like kids and need money so despite the fact that I find being alone in someone else's house awkward, especially with a kid I don't know, I accepted.
I was picked up and told that it would be a relatively easy thing to do and I didn't need to follow her around or anything, as long as she's safe.
Day One was probably the worst. The girl I babysit is painfully shy. So we spent the whole day awkwardly smiling at eachother whenever we happened to cross paths. Thank goodness she had a friend over.
As the week progressed, I found myself having fun with her. We built a fort, went to the park, and spent an entire day watching t.v. Ten hour babysitting shifts can be quite fun, especially for 30$ a day. Having made 105$ this week, I gladly accepted to do it the rest of the summer.
Little kids are hilarious to listen too. They say the most obscure things and laugh at smallest things.
Girl I babysit: That bubble is my boyfriend!
Her friend: *kisses bubble*
Girl I babysit: Boyfriend stealer!
There was another day I was reading in the living room and the kids were dancing in the kitchen and the girl I babysit ran up to me and said "Me and Molly (her friend) are playing a game where we're in a band and we dance and sing to songs on the radio and it's really fun and I put on make up don't I look pretty" and then she promptly giggled and ran off. I miss being that little!
Now I can say I'm working! =3. The only downside to this job is the occasional band practice in her house. My dad's girlfriend has a roommate that likes to play really loud obnoxious music with little to no warning so I have to move quickly to get everyone upstairs or outside so we won't go deaf. The music shakes the floor and is earsplittingly loud and 4 hours on a wooden bench isn't the most fun thing in the world.
On another note, I'm now 18! My birthday was filled with Chinese food and DDR and the movie "Easy Virtue".
I lack decent hand-eye coordination and a DDR mat so I played with the ps2 controller. The announcer has an annoying voice and have you noticed the faces the characters make?! It's hilarious! Though it is hard to play the game and try to watch the background at the same time.
Anyway that's really all I have to update on. Have a good summer!
